I bought a headphone male/male in line volume extension. I did not notice it had trrs one end and trs on the other. the phones are trs. the source is also trs, in this case the tv's line out. Will this cable work? I do not know which standard the cable uses. I would guess it is IPHONE, CTIA? Would I need a plug/socket adapter? Could I remove the trrs and replace it with a trs? Since there is no mic present I could ignore that wire? Would the remaining wires be the common red/white/black or braid for ground?
