I have backed a dvd up in .avi format and while it plays ok on my pc it is out of sync when playback on my Yamada 6600 dvd player.

    Any ideas ?

Maybe it is a little bit out when played on PC but this is exaggerated by standalone...?
I assume you mean the Japanese company Yamaha.
Well it seems it DOESN'T play DivX AVI afterall then, if the audio is messed up, right? ;-(
You can easily re-mux the AVI using NanDub or whatever, to burn CDs that will be in synch.
But why it's doing that, I dunno...
If it's consistently 1/2 second out of synch, maybe the 500ms preload audio is messin' your Yamaha up.
    Regards
