I made a vid using photostage 27 mins long 300 meg

it came out in the Avi format .

I downloaded dvd flick to try an get the vid onto a dvd

It went thru the process then an img burn window came up but then
    nothing seemed to happen.

I ve downloaded a few dvd burning programmes and tried them all but nothing seems to work

Im using a laptop and windows 7

Ive now come to the conclusion that when I put a blank dvd into my laptop
the laptop is nt recognising it

I ve seen messages... put disc into computor.... etc when the disc was already in

or ... no media present .... notice .

I feel totally stumped... is there any way around this.... ?
    thanks for help or comments

I would try a different brand of media first. What are you using now?

sounds like the dvd laser head is dead but the cd burner part is good. does the dvd drive read any previously burnt or programed dvd disks?

YES Ive put discs in made with my dvd player and they ve worked ok

I ve noticed in past fortnight when Ive tried to change avi files to mpeg2 files
they ve converted... sound ok but no picture

should I go out and buy a few dvd+r discs and see if they work ?

No ! the model of dvd burner assuming it can burn dvd's should tell you if it can burn dvd-r,when checked against manufacturers specs.Your device manager will tell you the model or a program like speccy
