sorry if this question has been asked before, but I did a search for this question and found no answer.

Why , when I have avi movies with the size of 780meg do we still need dvd , VOB files when people viewing these movies can not tell the difference by looking at its original DVD or re-renderd avi format ?

When the dvd takes up 4.7gig

    auto1234 ,
If all DVD Players played .AVI files then the original files will play but in the devine wisdom of the Experts they decided we needed a new format which is the DVD format w/ the .vob,.bup and ifo files. The .AVI files will play fine on a computer but when you put them into a player the player will give you an error message. My Standalone DVD Player plays both w/ no problems
