Azureus is free and there are a great many other clients, I'd recommend utorrent as newbie friendly.

One tip don't get the latest Azureus 2504 it crashes after 5 mins, no error or nothing just reboots your machine. I went bach to Azureus 2402 and so far great. Bitcomet or Bitlord are great for Noobs or Leachers and uTorrent is great too. The most important thing is to get good private sites to download from like : http://bitsoup.org , http://www.revolutiontt.net or http://www.demonoid.com.

I think you'll find that BitLord is banned on most private sites and contains malware, too. BitComet is banned on at least one site I use although I think that can be blamed on previous versions.
