okay guys. so im back to the xbox scene and been doing some research and im just trying to get a few things straight.

My first question is, For a samsung M28 drive you do not need to upgrade to LT 3.0 to play all the new games right? XDG3 included.

second, I just bought an Ihas24b drive which i plan to use burnermax firmare to burn my games. how safe it to go online?

XGD3 games will work on the LT2.0 on samsung drives. Although I would recommend you upgrade to LT2.01 because there is a bug in LT2.0 and XGD3 games.

really, you really gonna ask about online safety? It's as safe as it always was, you take your chances with custom firmware and backup game discs.

If you have an iHAS then burn everything with it. If not, then just burn XGD2 &AP2.5 until you get the iHAS.

Well being a sammy drive you do have the added bonus of it ingoring ap2.5 checks which makes it even better for xbox live.As Farrukh49 said if you plan to flash it yourself use the 2.1v of the firmware.Having a ihas with burnermax firmware is a definite yes.Just make sure you run every iso through the latest abgx to patch, then burn the full iso with your ihas drive, verbatim 003's(singapore).Loads of tuts on the settings needed for imgburn.Thats as safe as you can be.Nothing is set in stone or 100% safe but with the advice given to you here its the safest it can be.Im lucky enough to have both sammy and hitachi drives which neither do the ap2.5 checks, use the tools/firmware mentioned and never been flagged for a ban.Just try to keep up to date every so often and check c4eva's website http://c4evaspeaks.com/ for all the latest on dash updates/firmware news.

'Multiple exclamation marks,' he went on, shaking his head, 'are a sure sign of a diseased mind.'

The xkey came too late, now with the next generation Xbox on the horrizon it's just too expensive.

its just in time next xbox not due until holiday 2013 and even then it probably will be a fluke and good working ones will be out by 2014
xkey is worth 100,than wasting coasters or money on discs

I want to get an xkey but I've never actually done any of my own modding or anything, unless you count the wiikey, or softmods lol. anyway I don't know anything about "key extraction" or anything like that and I believe I read the xkey isn't just something you plug and play so to speak...

Even if the next xbox comes out next year... a decent game won't come out for another 6+ months after that.

The 360 launched with no great games.

With the MKM-001, I use these settings:

    Eeprom
    Force HT - Enabled
    Online HT - Enabled
    Smartburn -Enabled
    Overspeed - Enabled

    IMGburn
    Peform OPC - Disabled
    Burnproof - Disabled

    Buffer Size - 512MB

    Burn Speed 4x

    Kprobe test at 4x

With MKM-003, I use these settings

    Eeprom
    Force HT - Disabled
    Online HT - Disabled
    Smartburn -Enabled
    Overspeed - Enabled

    IMGburn
    Peform OPC - Disabled
    Burnproof - Disabled

    Buffer Size - 512MB

    Burn Speed 4x

    Kprobe test at 4x

I have been getting good results with both types of Verb with these settings oh, and I always clear opc and power cycle my drive before burning. Hope this helps you out.

xkey too late... not worth it? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Let's put aside the tons of advantages, no discs to buy, no flashing to do, no special burners to buy, no risk of coasters, no custom firmware... It's so nice dragging and dropping an ISO onto any hard drive you want and away you go. Not to mention, never having to swap games. There's so many advantages, you can't even compare the xkey to messing with discs. If you say the xkey isn't worth it at this point, then buying discs and flashing drives isn't worth it either. Plus, there will still be XBox360 games coming out once the new XBox comes out. They don't just halt all games for the old system, the day a new one comes out.

Please, explain to me how it's not worth it or came out too late?!

Do I really have to put up that calculation again?
I am so tired of it.
Roughly calculating the Xkey and a decent external 1 TB harddrive cost around 200 US$, the IHAS burner and a DROM drive cost around 40 US$, if you do the modding yourself. I don't calculate the hardware you need for getting the key off your xbox 360 drive, because you need that for both. I also don't say that you don't rip your own games, if you only download your stuff it's even cheaper. Let's then assume you pay 1.5 US$ per Verbatim disk (I pay 1, but just for calculation's sake), that would be 107 disks. Do you really think there are 107 games getting released in the next two years worth playing?
As I said, too expensive, too late.
And I don't even mention that the Xkey could possibly get useless with the next fall update. Then you'd have the same thing the PS3 scene has now, wait until someone finds/releases a patch to play newer games on the old dashboard.
If you want to play games off the harddrive, get an RGH done, atleast that gives you some more options (DLC, emulators...).
