Back up a hi-def movie to a dvd, playable on dvd player

    Can this be done? How? Can it be done with a dvd burner rather than with an expensive high def burner?

    you need a hd burner to do this and the results are not hd

    You can re-encode it to a dvd resolution, if that's what you mean.

    DVD players are not hd though, but an HD mpeg 4 player can do exactly what you want.

    Or do you care if it isn't HD anymore?
