Every time I try to burn a xbox backup it fails. I have tried using different games from different sources and none of them will successfully burn. I have been using xbox backup creator but have also tried nero with the same results. My dvd burner is the pioneer dvr-111d and im not sure what media it is that I am using(is there a way to find out?). I have successfully burned backups before with this media and burner.

If someone could help me get to the bottom of this problem that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Ensure that your burner is in DMA Ultra mode 6, not PIO.

It's in Device Manager -> IDE\ATA ATAPI Controllers. Select the one that your burner is on and ensure the correct setting is set.

I'm on Vista, but the XP one is similar, you'll get the idea...

I have 3 primary ide channels and 3 secondary. All of them are set to "dma if available"

Hmm, lower the speed of the burn! The lower the better! I use 4x...

The only option of speed it gives me is "2.4x".

Uninstall the burner in Device Manager! Reinstall it it and then reinstall Nero!

Sounds like you're running out of options, just buy a new burner! They're cheap as hell these days!

My one is only a year old and will only burn DVDs at 4x otherwise it will fail!

I'm constantly changing them it seems!
