I'm really new to DVD burners and was thinking of getting the newest Toshiba drive. Is it possible to use the DVD format to simply back up data files from your PC ? I'd like to make backups of regular data files, shareware, digital photos, video clips, etc. While I may get into creating real DVD's at some point, I primarily want to use the DVD burner to do periodic backups.

Are you asking about which software to use? Or which burner to get?

Also remove your email from your sig. Posting emails is against the forum rules.

    Dear kbrisson,
I would recommend Nero, a powerful, multi-purpose burning suite for all the things you have in mind, and much, much more. Except for DVD ripping, Nero can be said to be an all-purpose CD, VCD, and DVD editing and burning program, and many people here like it.
