Let me begin by asking you to excuse my ignorance concerning video editing software. I need recommendations for an inexpensive video editing software package. Here is what I need it to do. Create custom backgrounds, 2 layers of audio (background music and voice simultaneously), the ability to fade in/out still picture and text. I am thinking that with most editing programs that this should be standard. All help is appreciated.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4, or the full blown Vegas 5.
Pinnacle Studio Pro. There are a few others.

Roxio EMC 7.5 and Nero will do this, although Nero won't allow you to move static or fade in/out text to where you want it.

May I reccomend Windows Movie MAker 2 which as you know is FREE, and does a neat editing job, and is terrific for beginers.
