Benq DW1625 burner WONT read CDs/DVDs

    I have an external Benq DVD DD DW1625 burner that I took out of its shell and placed it into my PC. The PC is recognizing the burner, but the burner is not reading ANY cds/dvds. I have upgraded all firmware, changed it from Slave to Master, and have updated the IDE controllers to no avail. Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

    any exclamation marks in device manager or any error codes like 19 or 39?
