Hi, I just got a new burner, BenQ 1610
and I am trying to erase my cd-rw disks, and I have tryed
it in CDRWIN 5 , Nero and Alcohol 120%, non of them can erase any of the disks, it sayes stuff like "drive not ready", and "Not all media erasable".
Than my cd-rom(not dvd burner) tray pops open!!! (what the???)
I'v tryed Quick Erase and Full Erase in all 3 programs. Can somone plz help!? :( Am I supposed
to instal somthing to make my burner work?

I need this fixed soon so I can backup some importent files on my harddrive before I change it to ntfs file system, then I can rip my dvd games. :)
    PLEASE!! help

You must install the drivers to make you burner work properly. They usually come with the drive on a disk and if not you have to get them from your manufacturers site.

    Hi, BreakZ,

1.Please check if you have the latest firmware for your 1610 (Currently B7M9)
    http://www.benq-eu.com/ServiceAndSupport/downloads/downloads.cfm?product=646&type=B

2.Due to the different power calibration used by different brand of drive, the previous drive which burn your CDRW may not be able to edit/erasable in the other drive. This could happen (and currently no solution as far as I know, no matter which brand)

3.Please make sure your media type. If it's 1x-4x CDRW, then it's also high possibility which is not editable in high speed CD/DVD writers.

    Hope this help.
