What set top DVD player is best for the playback of MP4 files? Does anyone have any recommendations. Also is it possible to put the MP4 files on DVD-R's as opposed to CD-R's

    Thanks for any help.

Covers a lot of ground, you need to be specific.

I use handbrake to make MP4 files for my PS3... I was wondering if there is a player out there that will allow me to take these files... burn them as a data disc and play them in a set top player.

Not specific enough?... not really sure what other details to provide here...

The trouble is, you can refer to mp4 and be talking about the container,
or two flavors of mpeg-4 compression, H264 (AVC) or ASP (divx/xvid).

Mpeg-4 capable standalone players, in general, meant the
xvid/divx type. As far as I know, standalone dvd players cannot play
H264 yet. Nor do they recognize the mp4 container (as far as I know).

If you want that capability, look at media players such as
the Popcorn Hour, or the Western digital offerings.

For dvd players, that play xvid/divx/avi,
this Philips model gets good reviews:
