    Hello everyone!
I would like to know what's the most "reliable" DVD-R media to use with my Plextor PX-712A? I will mainly be using it to backup my collection of movies and data archiving. Also, what speed is best to use when backing up movies in order to minimize errors? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!

Stick with Taiyo Yuden....they may cost a bit more but they are the only consistantly good disc out there.Forget anything else.Ive tried over 30 brands/speeds over the last 2 years.Nothing comes close.Speed wise, I find burning an 8x disc at 6 or 4 is great.Just my pennys worth!

TDK's TTG01 is quality too. They burn very nicely in my Plextor PX-708A :)

I have the same drive. I've thrown lots of Ritek Ridata at it with no problems. Sure, there's better medi like Verbatim, Maxell, and TDK. But the Ridata 4X DVD+Rs are stamped RICOHJPN and they are pretty darn good and alot more affordable. Here's Plextor's official brand list:
