I'm burning using Prassi a dvd ripped by smartripper and getting the following error message:

    Error 10 at sector 16.....

this error appears just after the disk is initialized and prior to the actual recording starts.

I ordered a batch of 50 from bigpockets, they come in packs of 10.

    The first pack was fine.

The second pack - roughly 2 out of 3 have this error.

I get a similar error if I burn using Nero.

But I have managed to burn the same rip to the 1 in 3 that does work.

What do you think, is there something wrong with the disks, or could I possibly be doing something wrong?

to make matters worse, neither nero or prassi can then erase the contents of the disk (quick or full), the error reporting is not exactly descriptive, it just says - "ended with errors"

... and then neither nero or prassi will allow you to record to the disc again because they have not been properly erased.!!! So much for dvd re-writtable.

help - this is frustrating and expensive.

I personally do not own a DVD-RW, but have heard from people who do. I'm not sure what brand name you have, but I hear similar stories from people when they buy no-name or bottom shelf DVD-R/RW discs. Apparantly, you get what you pay for in that case.. if you purchased a decent brand name, perhaps the manufacturer will give you a refund.]

    Best of luck.
