OK, I have a problem with my big PS2.

I cant get it to load any disc's at all. It sounds like it wants to spin but wont get up to speed and then fails after trying a few times. Someone told me it could be the laser falling out of position or something from it sitting in a verticla position. Could this be the case?

I opened it up and found everything to be fine as far as what I could tell.

If it is this problem that one said is common could it be worth fixing and if so has anyone ever had it fixed? What was the cost so I know whether or not its wroth my time?

your laser may need to be replaced. You could try cleaning/adjusting it first too.

You could replace the laser yourself easily with a used laser (no soldering)((also a good test to see if that is your problem)) you can find them on ebay. You will need to know which laser you have though. If you want a new laser, you will have to unsolder anti static points before you install it.

Option 2: Sell the big Ps2 and use the money to Get another Ps2.
    Hope this helps
