hey, i just got Bit Torrent, seeing how i need it for various downloads, but my downloading speed is absolutely horrendous. I get 0.6 kbps when im lucky.

Now i did SOME research and i found out that i need to forward some ports from my firewall. Thing is, i don't know how to do it exactly.

I only have Window's defender (with some anti-spy/virus).
One more thing... i'm using the internet off a neighboor so would that complicate anything?

Portforward.com How to setup a static IP address.

Do you have a software firewall?
As Mistycat pointed out, the Defender is not a firewall, neither are your anti-spy/virus applications.

The 2 megs on the test, was it bits "b" or bytes "B" as 8bs = 1B.
So if it was 2Mb (megabits) = 250kBs (kilobytes).
