Having backed up 10's of DVD's, i've come across this strange problem with my Star Wars Trilogy back ups.

The backups skip now and again when in my player however they play fine in my computer. I am able to access the skipped minutes by 'rewinding' back through the skipped part (so it does somehow recognise the material to be there!?!?)

The back up was made using the following process:
dvd decrypter/ ifoedit to strip angles/ Rebuilder + CCE / VOB blanker to remove studio intro's etc/ ifoedit to alter First Play etc. (P4 3.06Ghz Hyperthreaded laptop with 1gb pc2700, WinXP pro)

The disks (have had this problem with two different movies) are of course scratch/fingerprint free and a surface scan using nero shows the disk to be fine.

    Would greatly appreaciate any thoughts.
p.s.This is not a cheap set top player (Bose Acoustimass 15 - no anti-Bose comments please:) and the DVD-R's im using are Prodisc03

Have you tried burning slower or using different media?
