Hi im using PAL hdadvance with my PAL v.4 PS2.

But when i load Hd advance it runs only in Black and white. But when i run a game it runs in colour.

Has anyone seen this before. If so is there a way to fix it? Its kinda hard to see what is highlighted in the menus when you are choosing a game to run

I am new to the playstation modding but it sounds to me that you have the wrong version of hd advance running. Try looking for the HD Advance (Pal version) and reinstall. If the screen is in black and white, looks like the screen is rolling up and down and you can't make out nothing, very blurry, I would say that this is your problem. Like I said I am new but your description to me makes me draw this conclusion. Does anyone else agree?

    Hi,

I've just bought a new PAL PS2 and installed HD Advance 2 PAL (definitely PAL) but the display on the TV of HD Advance is black and white... The games convert and work fine (in colour) but I just can't understand what's going on... It's no BIG deal except that navigating through HD Advance in B&W is quite tricky as you can't see exactly where you are and what's highlighted.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful.

The problem is that HD Advance uses 60Hz PAL, and not all TV sets support this - unfortunately I know of no way around this that doesn't involve replacing the TV! ;-)

Hi guys, the solution if your Tv has a SCART socket fitted which supports RGB is to use a fully wired RGB SCART cable from the ps2 to your TV.

How good / reliable is the hd advance as I'm thinking of getting one?

    I got this too!
I am using a (standard?) connector which ends in 3 RCA plugs (red, white, yellow) which is in turn connected to a scart converter, plugged into the back of my TV.

I have only seen scart-scart cables that are fully wired before. I will try using a friend's tv as suggested and see if there's a difference.

The reason for the black and white can be two that I can think of, the hd Advance has been produced wrong in both reasons that I can think of, one is that it has been produced with PAL signal but at 60hz and the TV's used don't support it or :( it's been produced with an NTSC output from the ps2.

Neither ideas should have been done really for PAL products, because older Tv's just don't support it. I'll say no more about it.

Think of it in the way of using an American NTSC DVD film being played on a PAL ps2 and output to the TV in composite video mode and the TV not supporting NTSC.
The standard leads that come with the PS2 are composite video leads.
