Boot problem

    I bought a HP 8100, 250g SSD, 8G ram, Win.10, all is good except when it boots, it boots from the optical drive, I have to hold F9 key to get to the HDD, I tried changing it in Bios to boot from the HDD, but still will only boot from the drive. Any help appreciated.

    Boots from optical ? if there's no disc it won't & then it will switch to hdd & boot windows.As for setting boot order in bios did you save before exiting

    Thanks. Upon booting I get this message "attempting to boot from usb", it does not change to HDD, also I did save it and get the same boot action

    Disconnected an exterior HDD and it worked, any fix ? T.I.A.

    what is the boot order in the bios & why have an usb external drive connected?

    Thanks for the reply. I have a 250G SSD HDD and use the exterior drive to store most of my programs, the boot order does not remain after a boot, tried saving to boot from HDD and it does not work

    does the computer show the correct time & date when starting?

    is it a desktop or a tower? is it the hp elite 8100? new or refurb computer?

    take it back to where you bought it from to get the problem resolved as they caused it not you.

    Change the BIOS (motherboard) battery then configure your boot priorities

    pcexpertq. he doesn't need to replace the battery as the computer shows correct time & date when starting up. the 1st sign that a battery is going bye bye is the wrong time then wrong date.
