I've been trying to backup ps2 DVD's with nero 5.5 to ritek DVD-R, they burn fine but won't boot on my Neo 2.2 chipped european ps2 (scph35004 or something)with Swap Magic 2. What can i do to make them boot (patch them or something) EA booting isn't a solution because my ps2 won't do that.

    PLEASE HELP....
(Please don't tell me i need to buy a messiah or something because i've paid $250 a long time a go for this chip)

That's odd because you shouldn't have any problems with the Neo 2.2 and swap magic. Can you tell if your chip is working ok because it sounds like you are burning it using good software and to good media? What speed are you burning the game at?

If you can you should try burning it at the slowest speed possible but I don't thinks that's the problem. When you try to boot your dvd backups exactly what happens? _X_X_X_X_X_[small]You are probably wondering how I came up with the name Hanedrick. Well... the name Hanedrick is a very distorted version of my sisters name and I call her that whenever I want to get on her nerves which is like 24/7.
    Version 5 ps2.

I Boot up the "Swap Magic 2 DVD boot disk" and when the "Insert DVD Disc" appears i switch the "swap magic" disc for the backup dvd-r and press X on my controller, i hear it turn but it almost immediatly stops, anyway it doesn't begin spinning fast and "noisy" like a CDR backup that isn't booting allright.

It sounds like it might be your laser or something cause everything else seems like it's been done right and is operating right. You might want to try cleaning it with one of those lens cleaner cd's. Also, have you only tried one dvd-r backups or multiple. If only one which one was it?

I don't think it's the lens because good cd backups boot 10tries/10boots...

I tried backing up "DTM racer" and "LOTR 2 towers"

By the way i alway burn from image and never "on the fly"

It's a frustrating problem because i spend a lot of money for the modchip/dvd-rs/dvd region x/swap magic, i really appreciate your help!!

To tell if it's a version 4 is by if it has 8 plastic things on the bottom of the ps2 and the plastic thing that says expansion bay has metal on the back of it.

    I searched the web and i'm now sure it's a european (pal) version 4 ps2, I think that's the reason a lot of CDR backup's won't work!!
So do i now have to calibrate the laser with a oscilloscope or is there an easier way??
