Breaker Pro on unmodded PS2 not booting a PSX backup?

Okay, I am using Breaker Pro to boot my games on my PS2. But when I put the CD-R in and press a button to boot it, it just hangs at the "Booting CD..." screen.

Now I know it can't be the game's files that are corrupt because I have used an emulator to test and see if they work.

I used Alchohol120% to burn the .CUE/.BIN files at 8x, and have tested whether the discs can be read by my disc drive, and they do auto-run showing the contents on the disc.

I'm not sure why it won't work, but i'm guessing after reading about how crap Memorex is with DVD-Rs(i couldn't find any reviews on CD-Rs). The media could be my problem, and that's not fun because i just bought a 50 pack of Memorex without knowing like an idiot.

Anyway, I have noticed my PS2 also starting to skip with game originals but even stop reading DVD videos. Could this mean that this is also why it won't boot this game? Is my laser dying? I haven't attempted to go in and clean it either.

Please help, I'd like some opinions on my problem since I searched on google and even these forums and couldn't find anything close enough to my problem.

Edit:I have tried burning the game at max speed, it still will not boot, and Alchohol120% won't let me burn and slower than 8x

it sounds like your laser may be dirty. you can clean it by using a clean q-tip with a little bit of alcohol, and putting a little bit of pressure on the laser. then you have to twist the q-tip over the laser.
i learned this from a ps2 repair guide. you can do a google search for it and you'll find it. it may be that you have to adjust the laser's strength, witch the guide explains. i actually bought the guide on e-bay for $1.00 and had them e-mail it to me. (it's a pdf file and i don't know how to post it.

as for breaker pro, i can't help you on that, i'm actually going to buy one so i can play imbnes on my ps2. i hope this helps.

also, i know as far as dvd game backups, you have to try to burn it at half of the speed of the media you're using. (8x, burn it at 4x)
as far as cd backups, i'm not sure but i would imagine that the same rule applies.

and honestly, i think that dvd decrypter is the best for backing up games. it hasn't failed me yet.

Yeah I used DVD Decrypter on my older computer using the same drive. Since it was slower it'd burn slower than 8x, but on my newer computer the firmware forces 8x which is also probably my problem, because with Breaker Pro, I can boot my burnt copy of Megaman 8(was burnt on older comp.), but the one i'm trying to burn now doesn't work.

I even bought some new blank media(Japan made Maxell, Taiyo Yuden made.) and i get the same results. So i'm gonna have to find something that'll let me burn CD-Rs slower than 8x or else i think i'm gonna have this same problem. But the Maxell discs have a max burn speed of 48x, should i try burning at 24x?

Tried it, and found out with DVD Decrypter that it keeps going as fast as 16x and stays there, it won't go any higher even with it set to 24x. :\

    Helo,
The problem is not Memorex Cd-R I just got my breaker pro with magic keys 2 for my ps2 slim and used it to boot my first backup game. It worked perfectly with the memorex cd, which is really cheap and has never let me down. Remember firstly Breaker Pro is only to boot PS1 games on a PS2, you need magic switch cd for ps2 game booting and a dvd disc burner, etc. Now follow this guide exactly to burn ps1 games, I did and everything worked perfectly.

Its free and easy to do it, just download CDRWIN and it is automatically set at speed one which always works for me and read the disc. Take the iso and burn with the same program, I used Fireburner which is another program but works the same!
Good Luck, and make sure that your Breaker Pro is set up right. You need magic keys or the flip top for ps2 slim, or the slide card for ps2 original, without these the cd is useless.

I've had the same problem, only with one game, my friend's burnt copy of Resident Evil: Director's Cut: Dual Shock Edition. I copied it to my computer, tested it with ePSXe, and it worked, but was a little odd. I booted it up in Breaker Pro and it didn't take, at all. Every other game did though...

breaker pro doesn't work well on ps2, at least on mine
it doesn't. i tried it on my ps2 and on a couple of friends
ps2 and it always takes a long time to boot up.

then i tried it on a ps1 and it works perfect! so from now on i use my ps1 to play imbnes & ps1 backups. i think cd-based games put astrain on the ps2's laser. so if you guys still have a ps1, don't get rid of it if you plan on backing up your ps1 games.
