Hello, I have an IBM thinkpad laptop and it recently stopped working. When I switch it on it the screen stays blank and the laptop beeps a few times, then nothing happens, does anyone know what the problem is ? Thanks.
Beeps a few times? Can you be more specific? If you give the exact sequence of beeps we can figure out what the problem is.
Ok, sorry, it beeps consistantly 4 times, then a second pause, then it beeps 4 times again, it does this 4 times, so 4 sets of 4 beeps.
I just took a look at the BIOS codes and none of them are what my laptop is doing, what should I do ?
Hey, I browsed the IBM website and I think I found the problem, Four cycles of four short beeps and a blank screen. -System board (Security chip) Can this be fixed, and if so how? Thanks in advance.
Has the laptop recently experience any type of intense vibration such as being dropped? The series of beeps could indicate a dislodged or bad memory chip. First check to see that they are seated properly then if there is more than one stick then remove a stick and try and boot, if that doesn't work then reinstall it and try to boot with the other.
