does anyone know if these are really needed? I don't do anything with them but copy and paste them, it seems like they aren't even used. Does the set top player need them, or can I just stop copying them? thanx for any feedback

.BUPs are backups of .IFOs. What's there to gain by not copying them? They're pretty small files.

You can probably get away with not copying them, but that's probably down to the strictness of your DVD player's compatibilty to the DVD specification.
