Iam using DVD Shrink and Nero 6.3.1. It was perfectly working fine and I backed up around 10 movies . Then all of sudden DVD writter it not burning any movies , it gives the error .

My DVD writer is Toshiba DVD SR-R5112 and Iam using Sony DVD -R .

I tried writing some data files into the DVD-R and again it fails. Iam not sure why this is happening . I reinstalled Nero and no use .Then installed Deep Burner and again it is giving error .

But Iam able to write the CD-RW . I tried writing some data files into CD-RW with the same drive and it works . So its only problem with DVD writing .

Can any one help me in this .

The Log that I got yesterday is attached her

My first recommendation would be to update Nero to the latest version then go from there. The version of Nero you're using is a very old one that was known to have bugs.

    Hi ,

Iam using the latest Nero only its ver 6.3.1.25 . Today I installed the Roxio Easy CD and DVD creater and then tried to fire some data files into the DVD and its again failed . This is the error log that it showed
    --------
    E80041898: Write Error - [03/0C/00]
    E80041899: Write error - buffer underrun occurred - [06/C5/00]
    E80041934: TrackWriter error - Flush failed - [T7127]
    E80041925: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed - [T7118]
    E800418ac: Fixation Error
    ---------

I guess its the problem with the DVD burner that I have. So what I did today is I went and got the DVD writer Micro Advantage DVD+-RW/CD-RW from my friend and installed it and tried buring the movie with Roxio Easy CD and DVD creater and it went through .

So is this the real problem with the burner ... Is there any restrictions in burner that it can burn only these amount of DVD. I guess its not ...

So what is really wrong in that ... As I said before Iam able to burn the CD-RW with my Toshiba DVD SR-R5112.

    with regards,
    Phils

Your log is showing an outdated version.

It appears your firmware is out of date so it may help to update it as well. Here's a link:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=31

Is your Toshiba set to Master on the IDE chain? If not it'd be a good idea to do so.

And you're sure the media you're using is-R?

    Hi ,

I really appreciate your help . I still have some more queries.

I went to the site above to update the firmware and it gives the following
    ----------
    Toshiba SD-R5112 - 1030, 1031, 1033 (Rev A) / 1031 (Rev B) / 1M32, 1M33 / 1N30
You can make your drive region free (RPC-1) by using one of these firmware (patch by Hijacker)
Patched X033 RPC-1 (ONLY for drives with 10xx firmware) Rev A
Patched X031 RPC-1 (ONLY for drives with 10xx firmware) Rev B
Patched XM33 RPC-1 (ONLY for drives with 1Mxx firmware)
Patched XN30 RPC-1 (ONLY for drives with 1Nxx firmware)
To be installed correctly, a drive region code must be selected before using the patched firmware.
    RPC-2
    ---------

    1. How will I konow which one is mine ... what is 1Mxx and 1Nxx means ... It says install the correct version elseit will destory the drive . So can you please tell me how to find which is correct for my drive.

    2. Also does I need to install the DVD Region+CSS ?

    3. how to find and set Toshiba to Master on the IDE chain?

Yes Iam using only -R media . My drive support only -R media .

    with regards.

    Hi
To get info about what firmware version you got, use Nero InfoTool.

Toshiba's firmwares as well as their site are pretty dang confusing. They have rev. A and rev. B drives and I've no personal experience with flashing Toshiba drives so I can't rightly recommend flashing your drive at this point. If you contact Toshiba's tech support with the serial # from your drive they may be able to tell you which revision your drive is and recommend the correct firmware.

Nero Info Tool, under the Configuration tab, will tell you which IDE chain your burner is on and whether it's the Primary or Secondary drive on that chain.

Installing an ASPI layer may help. Here's a link to the download and the instuctions:
