Hey guys, I've been having an annoying problem with my PS2 backups lately; First of all, I've been using Memorex DVD+R discs, and then Sony DVD+R discs after that. These both ran very, very smoothly on my Slim PS2 with ESR. However, after I ran out of Sony discs, I ran and got a fix on some new Memorex DVD+R discs from Family Dollar (which were the EXACT same working brand I'd been using before) for some new games; but this time, the burned dics didn't work! I burned my first game, Yakuza 2, and it booted the first time, then didn't boot after that. Then I tried burning Urban Reign: black screen. I then decided to test other games from the EXACT same type of memorex disc( Rule of Rose, WWE SvR 2010) and they worked absolutely fine with no flaws whatsoever. I then played an original PS2 disc to furthermore test the health of my laser. After this worked, I assumed the laser was fine. (whew)I took an extended break from the PS2 once I received my PS3, but now I'm beginning to want to go back to the PS2 for classics. Again, today I attempted to burn Urban Reign, but this time with a DVD-ROM BOOKTYPE in alcohol 120, and it booted the first time, but when I reset the console, it began freezing in between boot screen sequences, same as Yakuza.(damn) Now my questions are if my batch of Memorex discs could have possibly been faulty? Is my console's laser burnt out?(I doubt it) OR has my laptop's cd-drive ran its course? Let me remind you again that all of my other games from earlier bought discs still work, even the Memorex DVD+Rs from long ago which are the exact same type that I have used on the games that don't work. I think because Memorex is such a cheap brand, they may have some faulty discs out there, and next time I plan on buying DVD-R's, which also playback on the Wii, or stick to Sonys. Thanks guys. I just wanna find out if I can use the two possibly faulty discs leftover for my Backyard Wrestling games that are scratched all up:)UPDATE: Again, I burned another game: Backyard Wrestling. It works fine after first launch, but gets stuck at purple screen this time after attempting a second launch. What's going on here??

Use 'Verbatim' brand disks that say 'AZO' or 'Advanced AZO' on the package.
    Don't buy their 'Life' series.
