Burned media works in one player but not another

I have been using DdvdXcopy and the same media for a couple weeks now which is Maxell DVD-R 4.7GB. When I back up discs I like to try them out in the stand alone players we have in the house. I found one that is doesnt seem to want to play in. Although it works in the other two. My stand alone DVD is a Panasonic DVD-RV32. Up till now I have never had a problem with my back-ups.

    I have few questions

Why did this happen and was it something on my end that I did wrong?

I know you can make copies of back-ups but does it have to be the same brand of media?

Also if I choose to make second backup using of my first back up disc will it continue not to be recognized in my standalone?

    thanks!

You are not required to use the same brand of media if you do a backup of a backup. But it is very likely that your second backup won't play if the first one doesn't.

I have no clue why some of your backups don't play in your Panasonic. Did you change [bold]anything[/bold] in the way you backup your DVDs ?

    Thanks for responding!

No I didnt change anything, I have a Microadvantage 8dvdrw-b13 and using dvdXcopy which has been doing just fine for me though lately when I try to play the backed up dvd sometime the movie seems scrambled sorta reminds me of a crossword puzzle hehe.

I have tried the DVD Shrink thing and have never had any success with it plus it takes up to 3x's longer for me to back up a DVD. I'd like to think I am fairly intelligent but dvd-shrink has got me stumped hehe.

Hi bylahi34, Are you copying dvds from different regions?? Scrambled video sounds like a mismatch between NTSC and PAL video format which you could get from different regions. Just asking. Or is the video in little blocks? If its the blocks (pixelation) it could be cheap media causing it.

Hi Jerry, the video isn't necessarily scrambled. Some areas of the picture are in little blocks causing obvious distortion to sound and video but I am using the same media that have been all along and when I check the discs with the dvdinfopro they all come back with the same manufacturing info.

It probably the Maxell media your're using. Maxell is a cheap media and isn't compatiable with every dvd player. If you want to use that dvd player try using another brand of media, try to steer away from the cheap quality media.

    Ok thanks.
I just purchased a 25 Pack Prodisc 4X DVD-R 4.7GB w/AZO dye just curious if that is considered one of the higher quality brands.

Hi, I am having a problem also. I have been burning DVD+Rs for about 4 months now without problems. I just burned 4 different copies of Cold Creek Manor and none of them will play on my Sony DVD player. All 4 copies play perfectly on the computer but no matter which way I burn the movie, it does the same thing in the Sony. It will play the Coming Attractons (even if I chose NOT to add them to the disc), go into the movie and play about 3 seconds of only a handful of the chapters and then the DVD player switches to the next CD. Any body have any suggestions? I am not really good at this.
