I have a media file marked ISO.

How does Nero handle burning an ISO file and under what
    option? Burn Image seems likely.

But the only experience I've had with ISO files is making operating
system disks for Linux with Kb3.

Here, the ISO is a media file... a movie. Should I expect that it will
be ready to play on a standard player once the burn process is
run? Or will it only be useable on a computer dvd?

Other programs I have show options for ISO. Is this a good alternative?

Right click on the iso file and select open with nero bruning rom. Then burn the image in Nero. If that doesn't work, you can also try ImgBurn or Dvd Decrypter.

I didn't know if I should be talking about Decrypter in here. :)

Yes I have that and know where the ISO tab is.

    I'll give it a whirl

I made a fresh message on this so it's not really cross-posting.

The ISO was tagged with the WINRAR icon and WinRAR unpacked the
    file to vob's.

How do I burn vob sets? I forgot if I ever knew since I normally only
backup dvds and transfer avi files to dvd.

Vob sets are not recognized by Nero unless I am missing a step.
What I know is that Nero will not 'burn a folder' of vob to get a
    dvd made.

Please answer here or point to the right guide for Nero, DVDD or DS.

Meanwhile, I have the full printout of the DVDD guide but that prog
shows the vob set in a window _from_ the dvd. I don't know how to
do the process the other way.

There are two ways (that I will state/show) of using nero to burn those files to a DVD disk.

1)[bold]Use Nero Burning Rom[/bold], the best way of showing this is to use a guide, so here are two.

    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/40/59/
    or
    http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/article_nero_dvd_burning_page1.html

    2)[bold]Use Nero Recode2.[/bold]

    First:
[bold]Your video files (.vob, .ifo, .bup) should be placed in a folder named VIDEO_TS[/bold],

    NOW:
Run the Nero's Smart Start application from the icon on your desktop and choose [bold]Nero Recode[/bold] on the left of the window (under applications). Nero recode should open/run, choose to recode the main movie or the whole movie to DVD (your choice), now click on the [bold]Import DVD[/bold] button and browse to the VIDEO_TS folder containing the video files, choose the folder to import the files, click next and follow the directions given.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll make a print of it
    for future reference.

I apologize for the duplicate post. I was getting confused
    about the subjects.

    Success.

The record procedure worked fine though I am still in a
quandry about how to get rid of regions.

A question is it normal for the proceess to go back and forth between 100% and 98% because it was doing that to me. I was using Nero Burning Rom 7. Then I buned a dvd using Nero Vision 4 and the audio was out of sync, it came a few seconds before the video, it use to work fine before.
