I am very new at this stuff. I have made a couple of movie's on Movie Maker, and saved them as .wmv files.
How can I make it so this will burn on a CD-R and play it on DVD?
Is that possible?? Sorry if these questions are ignorant, but I'm very new at this.

im no expert either but u can burn your movie as a VCD or SVCD which can be played back on compatible DVD players.
to burn a VCD or SVCD you can use Nero.
    http://www.nero.com
to make the vcd's etc you may need the various pluggins availiable as well.

Use Nero Express as this should enable Nero to concvert the files to mpeg which are necessary for VCD - just follow the prompts. If Nero doesn't convert however you may need to convert with other software. For an SVCD you will need to get the Nero Vision Express plugin although I've heard that the latest version of Nero (5.5.10.35) may support SVCD - download the upgrade to find out ( I already have Nero Vision Express so am not sure).

I wouldnt recommend letting Nero encode because it is not built as an encoder so often makes stupid mess ups! First encode with an encoder then burn with Nero! Read artcles http://www.afterdawn.com/articles
