stumbled over this old thread whilst looking for clues for another thread, so made my journey useful and answered this logfile... - Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.16, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php - newer version of your firmware is here - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#700, just look down the page a bit.. - as your burner is external to the PC, that question mark is ok - close down as many programs as you can to free up more memory - get decent media, see this - - get decent media
Hehe Thanks for replying to this. A little too late, but this forum is all about posting info for others to read. I have learned a great deal of this info over the last year, and now burn perfect DVDs (though crappy media often dies after a few viewings - no problem if I am just using for the kids, where ANY DVD will die - I just make a new copy) I eventually got that drive working by updating NERO and the drive Firmware. Both supposedly very minor updates (and neither mentioned the other), but it did the trick
cool, i replied as i'd no doubt reference it again in time for other posts, but also for novelty value as i was curious as to whether i'd get a reply
