Hi I've got a new samsung TS552B Firmware TS04 and when burning +R dvds I dont get a single problem! but when burning stuff to -R dvds I just get errors.

I've tried different brands from Sony to Verbatim I even use Verbatim +R discs no problem.

I've tried burning at different Speeds and Different Buring Software(Nero, Clone DVD, Alcohol 120% etc not all installed at once).

The drive came with TSO3 Firmware and I updated to TS04 Firmware and still get same problem (although seems the burn a little bit more)

I've got a Panasonic 107 and it won't burn +discs..lol. It just burns -discs. I just live with it, as it gets the job done anyways. I've tried loads of things from firmware to updating burning software and none of it works..lol.

Well you say you have a new burner. If I was you I would return it. Its not doing what it is supposed to be doing. Maybe try a different brand of burner, theres lots of info on this site about them, see what other people have to say. Personally I have an LG GSA-4120B Never a problem on +r or -r and over 500 discs burnt.

I have gsa 4120b 104 firmware. It's nice to hear someone say they have no problems (was starting to think it was a dud.)Burn't plenty of half discs before changing to riteks. Now i have successful burns using dvd shrink + nero BUT now the discs skip during playback (extreamly annoying). Seam to playback o.k on the lg drive, but not on anything else,ps2,xbox or phillips player.reading some other forums the GO5's are getting a bad wrap.maybe the problem, might try TY's or open frisby shop...

I have the same problem. It is just the compatibility of the media we are using. I just bought the exact same burner to backup my PS2 games. My previous DVD Burner broke after two years of usage [external] and I have no problem using Ritek G04 on it. Now with the new burner, Ritek G04 is incompatible!!

I've read reviews that this burner was rushed out in the market early. If they have fixed the compatibility of DVD-R of this burner, this would be one of the best burner out there.

I will post in DVD Media fourm - requesting another good media for this burner [for DVD-R] [in another day however - playing games =p]. I'm somewhat lucky [though not tested enough yet] that DVD+R works on my PS2 [Version 4: tested Naruto 2 DVD+R TDK]. But I will ask for another good media besides Ritek [and will list the incompability of other media too - the website that reviewed this have some incompatibile media.
