I have used DVD shrink and Nero together in the past and burned several dvds, but recently I can't. It says the recorder doesn't support this type of disk (DVD-R). Could someone tell me what is the problem.
hi is the recoreder old? or burnt say 2000 dics? it may need a cleaner discs for dust removal? have you bought a new type disc than usual? have you burnt from the same spindle ok? have you recently or in the period of inactivity loaded any new software? have you tried uninstalling an installing your fav app?
Thanks for the reply, No, I haven't changed anything! I am using the dvd-r. I have a sony notebook which is fairly new(one year old), and of course dvd shrink and nero.
Have you changed brands or packages of dvd-r media? What brand are you useing and what is the media code?
I am using dvd-r (TDK). I have used this brand and burned dvd's before. I even reinstalled nero and dvd shrink.
Are they out of the same package or cakebox or a new package or cakebox? What is the media code? Use this free proggy. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ Mort
Here are a few different media codes for TDK dvd-r's. TDK DVD-R 2x (MCC 00RG200) TDK DVD-R 2x (MXL RG01....) TDK DVD-R 2x (RITEKG04....) TDK DVD-R 2x (TDKG02000000) TDK DVD-R 4x (TTG01.......) TDK DVD-R 4x (TYG01.......) TDK DVD-R 4x Scratch-Proof (TTG01) TDK DVD-R 8x (TTG02) TDK DVD-R 8x (TTH01) Download dvdidentifier (I provided link above) and open. Load a disc in your dvdrw or dvdrom and click identify.
Hi, I followed your advice and this is what I got after identifying my disc: Unable To Initialize Disc In Time : Not ready - Incompatible medium installed [02/30/00] what I don't understand is I used the same discs before and burned quite a few dvds.
fbl, Hmmm, is your dvdrw external? If so usb or firewire? I'm not too familiar with ext setups, maybe Rotary or creaky can help.
hi it sounds like it dont like the disc type? also it could be a -R writer uses a +R which it cant of course?
It is internal. It is so strange! it worked before with the same type of disc(tdk, dvd-r) do I need any other software beside nero? what is InCd? Does it have anything to do with my problem?
incd is 'packet writing' software, all i ever read about it is that it interferes. I haven't used anything like packet writing for many, many years. I think most ppl suggest getting shot of p/writing. i am following a couple epic threads re external burners and/or burners in usb enclosures, and i have a couple enclosures myself (but my burner is internal). anyway, i think we need a section of your Nero log (minus serial number of course, usually begins with 1A21 or similar). It's in "c:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log" (cor, i'm listening to 'Aurora - the day it rained forever' thru my new 5.1 setup) ahh bliss ! - soz, i know it's off topic but it helps me type!
My burner is internal. here is my neroHistory.log: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero API version: 6.6.0.12 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 12c Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D>Version: 1.10 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.12 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2000kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : TOSHIBA MK6021GAS atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D F: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 66060288 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 446MB (457712kB) Free physical memory: 173MB (177620kB) Memory in use : 61 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 2.5.2005 NeroAPI 1:38:58 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation started 1:38:58 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 1:38:58 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files sorted 1:38:59 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 1:38:59 PM #5 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 1:38:59 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 1:38:59 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 1:38:59 PM #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3153 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 1:51:45 PM #9 SCSI -1033 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1182 SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 0, LUN 0 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x02 (KEY_NOT_READY) Sense Code: 0x04 Sense Qual: 0x01 CDB Data: 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0E 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x04 0x01 1:52:18 PM #10 SCSI -1033 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1182 SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 0, LUN 0 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x02 (KEY_NOT_READY) Sense Code: 0x04 Sense Qual: 0x01 CDB Data: 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0E 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x04 0x01 1:53:10 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 272 Write in overburning mode: NO 1:53:10 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2339 Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D Medium not present 1:53:10 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 438 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Insert empty disc to write to. - where's your disc ? plus dunno if you need a windows aspi installed, i have it installed but never remember what it does or why it's there.
fbl, Try disabling your dvdrw. Go to device manager,dvd/cd-rom drives, double click on the dvdrw, disable at the bottom with the drop down menu, click ok, reboot, windows should recognize and say new device found. If not go back and reenable and reboot. Give that a try.
