to boot backup games in your ps2 requires the use of a mod chip or a boot disc

thanx i just figured that out I'm looking at the Matrix infinity chip. Can anyone tell me if it really works?
I'm not sure if I can install it without burning up my ps2. Somebody told me they were fake chips. That you could tell by the actell on the chip.please suggest good chips. I don't want to use swap magic because it sounds like a real pain in the ass.
