OK, I have my ripped VOB files. I burned them with ROXIO 6.0 to DVD+R. Now I have VOB files on a DVD. Now what? My DVD player won't play them and when I want to play the movie from my hard drive I have to open the files. How to I burn the VOB files so I can play them on my DVD player??? HELP

    you also need the files
    video_ts.ifo
    video_ts.bup
    vts_0x.ifo
    vts_0x.bup
    and the vob files
they all go into the video_ts

Nero or RecordNow are much better bruning progs than Roxio...

A typical VIDEO_ST folder of a DVD is similar to :

    VIDEO_TS BUP 16,384
    VIDEO_TS IFO 16,384
    VIDEO_TS VOB 43,008
    VTS_01_0 BUP 77,824
    VTS_01_0 IFO 77,824
    VTS_01_0 VOB 1,695,744
    VTS_01_1 VOB 1,073,565,696\
VTS_01_2 VOB 1,048,565,696 \ <-- This is the Main movie
    VTS_01_3 VOB 1,048,565,696 /
    VTS_01_4 VOB 589,365,248 /
    VTS_02_0 BUP 18,432
    VTS_02_0 IFO 18,432
    VTS_02_0 VOB 43,008
    VTS_02_1 VOB 6,014,976

If the movie is well over 4.36Gb (size of blank DVD R media) then just take VOB files as shown above & the IFO file 2 above selected VOB s. In this case VTS_01_0 IFO 77,824

Then use a compression application such as DVD2One & this will add needed BUP and IFO files.

    [bold]Alternatively :[/bold]
Use DVD Shrink as beginning process to rip/strip extras/compress (is free d/l btw..always helpful)

OK, now I've got a DVD with all the files you told me to burn on it. Now what? It doesn't play.
The only way to play it is to open each file at a time, and when that part of the movie is over I have to click another VOB file. What am I missing????

How did you burn the files ?
    [ VIDEO_TS Folder]

Did you check that the files played from HDD [using PowerDVD or WinDVD etc] ??

I just burned them using roxio (I know this isn't your favorite). I can play the individual files using WinDVD4 but how do I tie them all together so I can play them on a DVD player that will play DVD+R's????? I don't want to have to open individual files to play a movie.

You see, you need to create a folder called VIDEO_TS to hold all the files in (as herbsman says). If you burn the folder onto the disc, then the DVD will play if the media is ok (ie not crap media)

It actually worked. Thank you all. I was also told to burn the VIDEO_TS file as a data disc. I hope this is right but it worked anyhow. Will this disk now play in a DVD+R compatable home DVD player??

    Thanx for all the help,

    Kevin

Yes you do, but as i said before, make sure that your DVD files are in a folder called VIDEO_TS and then burn as a Data Disc, dont open the folder, just drag it in.
