ive been burning avi with nero for some time now on to philips dvd-r, doing two episodes on each disk. Now ive started doing movies, now when i download movies i make sure there in good shape but when i play it on my dvd/divx player and theres about 20-25mins left in the movie it starts to freeze for 30sec and it skips a couple of mins. do i need a new program to burn my movies or do i need to compact them or convert...help???

First try slowing down your burning speed to 8x & perhaps 4x. Second try a different brand of media like Verbatim, Sony or Maxell.

I don't have any standalone players that will accept avi's as a source so I convert them all with DVD Flick. Just one question though, do they play with no problems before you burn them? Also Philips discs may be suspect, most always the recommended media is Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

EDIT: Here is a DVD Flick guide if you need it ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552742

Too quick for me tonight bratcher.

I left Nero for Convertx2DVD which works really well for me. The only think Convertx won't do is combine 2 AVI (or other format) movies into one title for converting & burning. I have to use Nerovision for that.

As to Verbatim or Tayio Yuden media. Yep they are both great media but then I've had good luck with 16x (but not the 8x) Ritek too.

Don't worry about it. We all help as we can!!

I think actually ConvertxtoDVD does convert 2 avis. It does not "join" the avis and then converts them, outputs a
separate set of VOBs for each AVI file; but if there is no menu,it will play sequentially.

bratcher at least understands well what ConvertX does with multiple AVI's.
This can be rather annoying on a 2 part AVI movie, as play sequentially involves a pause that can quite distracting.

Do note the new version 3 of ConvertX will address this shortcoming.

i dont put 2 avi into convertxtodvd i jion the 2 part avi film with avi-mux gui first, that dam pause stops dvd running...

but a menu 2/3/4/5/6/7 avi is good to go.

Sorry, can't read OP's mind, my ESP is malfunctioning:)!
Not gonna mention other modes of joining the avi, like VirtualDub, AviSynh, or dozens of commercial joiners/splitters out there...I am sure the OP knows:)

    @Rotary
The discussion in case was about ConverxtoDVD, so I am assuming the OP is bratcher. I think.

    :) Thanx LOCOENG,
My dilema is OP= original poster as in the one that started the thread, or OP= the poster that the sub-post came from, and the quote was addressed to? :)!

If you have VOB's etc. then just use Imgburn if no compression is needed and DVD Shrink if it is.
