Im thinking of buying a new internal dvd burner for my pc, with the prices dropping on dual format +/- on ebay and other places I thought it would be a good time to buy. I burn games and movies on my aunts comps using dvd Decrypter and dvd shrink so the programs arnt new to me. Shes got some crazy expensive Vaio and I dont have alot of money. My question is what should I be looking for to burn games and movies? And what would be a good place to buy one? Is the name brand important?

The three most highly rated dvd burners at the moment are the:
    1. Pioneer 108
    2. NEC3500
    3. Plextor.
These are not in order of the best as opinions vary.

I burn all my dvd's with my Pioneer 107 at 8Xspeed. Pure quality, no coasters.
I use a 2-sheep cd writer for copying games so that they are perfect everytime.

If you're wanting a DVD burner that will back up games you're best bet is to get either the Plextor PX-708A or the 712A. Not only are they two of the finest burners on the market but both a very capable at backing up PC games. The Lite-On 4xx and 8xx series are good at backing up games as well.

True 2-sheep DVD burners are a rare breed and the ones I listed are the only ones that I'm aware of :)
