    Hey Forum,

I am thinking about replacing my Aopen DVD Burner with a new one. Any suggestions?

The reason I want to replace it is because it seems no matter what media I try and what programs I use I end up getting disks that freeze half way through a movie. I tried different media. Even with Verbatim Digital Movie disks I have these same problems. The drive makes noise too when I turn the computer on so I am thinking maybe the drive is bad.

Any thoughts on the drive and the problem? Any thoughts on the best DVD burner to get for the buck?

What speed are you burning at?

    Is your firmware up-to-date?

As for buying a new drive, read this for a good idea.

    Burning at 4x.

Not sure about my firmware...is there a program out there that can tell me about my firmware?
