    I have a SCPH-30003 v3 and it doesn't read DVD+rw's.
But reads DVD+r easily, both movies and backup.

I've got a v5 ps2 and it plays +rw ,i back up my ps2 games and make backups of dvd movies that will play on my stand alone and it has done so perfectly.i've even backed up ea games which suppose to need a patch, it also lets me play backup dvd movies on +rw on my ps2.I use nero every time which in my opinion must be the best value for money piece of software you can buy.

I guess you have the same stuff as I do.
    V5 Ps2 and it plays DVD+rw.
With a good modchip you won't have to patch any EA game.

Do you have Messiah too ?

Some V4 PS2's are capable of reading DVD-rw's. It's just trial and error with those.

V5 and above should be fine for playing them, it's just the early versions of PS2's that aren't very good with them due to their lasers.

    + is the key ... right ! I agree :-0

So you can play +rw too ? I use them for example to copy my EA sport games to. So that I can overwrite these games every Year. 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - and so on...
(FIFA, NHL, NBA, Madden andso on )

    Good idea isn't it ?

Ok, I'm actually a rookie in this forum so please don't hit. :) I just wanted to know if this setup would work for playing my backup dvd+r/rw on my ps2:

    - PS2 version 5 and up
    - Memorex DVD+RW/R Justlink Writer
    - Magic 3 or Messiah2 Pro chip
    - Verbatum DVD+R or RW

The instructions at the begining were very helpful on getting me rolling with my PS2 CD backups. But do I need to add and/or replace anything to get successful DVD+R backups? Or should the above setup do fine?

    PS - I unfortunately don't have dvd-r/rw burner...

As far as I know, ver5 and dvd+r is fine! I dont know about the media because I've never tried verbatim berfore! Anyway, just make sure to use good software like Alcohol 120% or Nero Burning Rom 5.5.9.0 or up!

I have a version 3 PS2 and I use Datasafe DVD+r media and they work fine. I used the Philips DVD+r disc that came with my recorder (DVDRW228) and the movies in Metal Gear Solid 2 stuttered like f**k.. However, with Datasafe media, it worked fine. It goes to show, what media you use does make a big difference.

BTW - What is this above about a bios? I can't imagine a bios coming on a CD with a remote control that isn't on the net to download.
