I heard that pal games have that 50 hertz thing going on and just wondering if it could damage my ps2 or tv? By the way I use flip top lid with magic swap to play japanese games.

SM discs are made for this reason. It wont hurt the TV, at least it shouldnt. The PS2 has virtually no difference except for the read sectors. Give her a try.

It won't damage the TV nor the PS2, however as far as I know not every TV sold in NTSC regions (Americas & Japan) supports PAL.

The worst you'll end up with is a confused-looking image when trying to play PAL games - your TV is trying to use NTSC standards instead of PAL. Some TVs also have a separate PAL mode which you'd have to turn on, it'd be a good bet to check your owner's manual.
