I have the fat V5 ps2. It has usb ports, what are they used for? Is there a way to connect extra controllers to the ps2 via usb using usb pc controllers?

look on the net to see, i think that they have adapters for that. They also have multitap units that allow you to hook up extra PS2 controllers (4)

only reason i ask is I have this airflow controller that is usb for my computer, and rather than buying another ps2 controller, if there was a way to make the ps2 recognize this usb pc controller via the usb port on the ps2, then that would be awesome!

No, you can't do that with the ps2. The usb's are for online gaming, via usb mice/keyboards and headsets.
