Can I burn a movie to a dvd-rw, then erase same?
    Any advantage/dis-advantage?
    TIA

Advantage is to test out how you are doing at copying movies. You can use the RW until you get the hang of it then switch to the R's when you are ready.

Disadvantage RW cost a lot more than R's

When I first started doing dvd backups I always used a dvd RW. I would play the RW back to check it. Then if it was a good copy I would just do a disc copy with NERO to a -R disc. It saved me from having a bunch of coasters. Took a little more time but saved me some money.
