Can it be a problem with my Home DVD player?

Okay so I went and bought Verbatim and burned a movie. When we played it on our Home player, the sound was choppy and the picture kept starting and stopping. This happened off and on with Imation discs, but not all the time. I had some really good sound and picture once in awhile. Just thought maybe the Verbatim would help but they didn't.

Just wondering if maybe its the DVD player (Toshiba) which has hardly been used since we bought it 2 years ago. One good thing: The Verbatim discs are actually letting me finally play movies on the laptop.

I would think if the movie is playing fine on the laptop then the fault probably lies with the standalone DVD player. Have you tried the discs, in say, a friend's DVD player? Toshibas can be picky. Get yourself a cheap chinese player, they'll play pizzas. LOL
