I have some AVC/h.264 files in MKV container that I would like to recode to MP4 suitable for the ipod. Can recode do this? I seem to be just getting an error indicating that Nero simply cannot proceed when I "add" the file to the project. Does that mean Nero can't handle MKV's or can't handle the h.264 encoded video as input? I have Haali's splitter and the file plays back just fine...
I think Nero wants avi. You could try this, it has an output container for Ipod format. Drag the mkv input file on to the window and choose an output container. Well, that's the thing. I can't even add the file to the window to do anything with it, much less choose any sort of output for the file. Nero just says it encountered an error and the file isn't added to the task. It doesn't crash, but it just won't add the file. Now, I'm doing this via an RDP session, which may be complicating matters with the filters, but if anyone has been able to import an MKV, it would be encouraging...
