Hi i have a modded v12 slimline ps2,i did not know that i needed to install a seprate chip to keep the laser from dieng,k¡now I dont know how to solder myself so itd be cheaper to for me to just remove the mod chip and get a swap magic(a waste i know) but before i make any further purchases i wanted to know if swap magic would eventually kill my laser due to the inferior version

Do I have to use a specific kind of media so the laser doesnt die or does it not matter?
