Can the brand of media for D2Ckey'd Wii affect drive performance?

I have a D2Ckey'd Wii and it plays everything but I noticed when playing Mario Galaxy that the Wii drive vibrates like crazy and makes other things on my entertainment center rattle...I'm using TDK DVD-Rs burned at 4x...I don't notice as much vibration with other burned games though...it doesn't sound like the drive is skipping or unable to read the disc...could Verbatim media for example decrease vibrations or do some games just "play louder"?

As far as I know the Wii is very picky with any kind of media. Even if it is a very reliable chip, you will want to make sure you use a high quality DVD to prevent damage to the Wii laser.

The most reliable kind from mine and other peoples experiences is Verbatim.

Verbatim will not work for me...RITEK GO4 or GO5 dyes work better for me

I forgot to mention this earlier, try to make sure you use DVD-R's.

Well, I got myself some Verbatims and interestingly my Wii vibrates much LESS using these vs. my TDKs...both were burned with Nero at 4x...it's interesting too how Mario Galaxy in general creates more vibration/drive noise compared to any other game I have...

Again, all games burned on TDKs played fine (no skipping, same load time, etc) but I didn't like how hard it seemed the drive was working with the TDKs...

It seems quite unusual that a game would affect this...

It is probably down to you Wii and how finicky it is with media.

I've been running TDK's as well, and I don't have any issues with them whatsoever. I don't notice my drive being any louder as well...

Thats a classic example of how different consoles do different things with different media.

Consider yourself lucky that yours accepts these without a fuss!
