it can't be downgraded to 1.5, but it can be upgraded to 3.60 m33. you would need a cfw psp to create a pandora's battery and magic memory stick designed for the slim.

note: not all homebrew will work on the psp slim. they're designed with the 1.5 kernel from the original psp.

you can't do it without pandora's battery. slim custom firmware cannot be installed without it.

and no, official 3.71 can't make the battery. only custom firmware on a fat psp.

SO after reading all this ... Can the PSP slim play downloadable games or not? I want a straight answer. This is my first PSP I am going to buy but I don't want to end looking at my son disappointed.

ok thanks... Please give me one thread where I can put the new firmware on WITHOUT using any old batteries or risking of losing my future brand new PSP.

    Thanks again
