I never go online with my PS2 before.
I think that most backup games need to be patched before going online. Unless you have a special modchip which patches games for you
this is because of the DNAS check
You can go online, and its very easy to do.
First you use DVD decrypter and save your game on your computer, after that you download/open windip, and select the image(.iso) after that you can put the DNAS code and you click on patch.
After that, burn the patched file (.iso) on a DVD-cd, and you can go online
