okay....i use smartripper to rip and dvdx to encode. the problem is i always end up having to burn onto at least 2 80 min cdr's. i have always done svcd format because i can't get good quality with vcd. can you help me. is there a way to compress.

Well certainly there is if you use the best programs and have time to spare!! I mean, you will need DVD2SVCD and CCE SP. But if the file is too long it's pointless in even trying!! Basically what I would be recommending is changing the frame size to 352x240 or 352x288 even though its non standard. This will increase the quality. Encode with VBR encoding at about 5 or 6 pass encoding. Lower the audio bitrate to about 160kbits sec. It will be complicated enough but if you want to send me a PM then i think we could try it out for the laugh?
