cannot set record channel

    ok this is problem, upstairs we have a vcr connecred to a dtv but i cannot set a channel for recording, if i try to put tv to say channel 00 it just goes straight to nearest channel, if i press 0 nothing happens. i can record from analogue channels but picture is terrible. i also have same problem in living room with a dvd recorder.
    any help appreciated.
