Just installed a LiteOn 1633S a couple of weeks ago. It's the slave on my secondary IDE channel, after an older 52X CD burner. They both burn CD's fine, at the same speed, actually...both of the burners & both of my hard drives (both on primary IDE) are all set to DMA. But when it comes to DVD's...even DATA DVD's...it's slow as all hell.

And by slow, I mean it took SIX & A HALF HOURS to fill up a 4.7GB DVD. I tried burning a Video DVD, & I just cut it short after an hour, it was ridiculous.

Are there ANY suggestions out there?

try setting it as master drive, that is what it needs to be anyway

what media and speed are you trying to burn at?

Well, I got it working in its same IDE configuration...the firmware needed to be updated. Did that, & nothing else...now it's burning filled data DVD's in 8 minutes @ 8x, & 5 minutes @ 16x.
